last dance

last night in july as a pair
why didn't the days stay put?
we spent them as if we had not a care
can you rub my foot?

our month was short
but oh so fun
wanna build a tree fort?
you are so good at puns

i'm a noob, there I said it
but so are you
go ahead, throw flossie in a deep pit
and paint your room blue

we had some good times
from hiking to skiing and messing around
perhaps some more memorized movie lines?
at least we didn't pick up a dog from the pound..

wish we had more time...
I love you and think you're pretty swell
without you I'm incomplete, like a Corona without its lime
keep your eye out for those frames especially in the way of a fall

I guess it'll be some time before we see each other
but I'm excited for your adventures
YoungLife camp will be a growing time (making you into a better mother ;)
we'll be friends until we both have dentures

you are special to me
my little crazy bug
even if you can't set up a straight golf tee
will you take from me a bear hug?

this poem sure is going south
for this late hour, that's what you get, though
please don't punch me in the nose (or mouth)
at least not until we see each other in the snow

goodnight, sleep tight
go fly a kite.

there are moments that can't be summed in words
some can be captured with a photo
but some just have to be stored in the memory.

there are people who you try to describe,
who you talk about all the time,
yet never seem to skim the surface of who they are or who they are becoming

there are memories and stories that only two people share,
laughs that only seem hilarious if you can solve the IM riddles (potad),
and unspoken tenderness between hearts

there comes a time when sisters grow up
they can't spend every moment together
yet they share a bond that no one can sever

and although they may have differing personalities,
or one is perhaps too intense or silly
or they live in two separate cities

nothing will ever separate the ties we will have (and continue to make)
as friends, loving the same movies and still enjoying frosting on our graham crackers
as sisters, joking about our flannel boxers and choreographed dances'
as best friends figuring out life together by God's grace and realizing we've been blessed to have each other to pick each other up and to reveal truth and beauty in the world

(jen, here's a spontaneous blog post: I don't know how it fits into the scheme of things, but I wanted to share it, as I sit steps away from you in my bedroom as you drift off to sleep listening to our favorite movie soundtrack.)
it's a dilapidated, unrhymed, and unmetered poem, but I feel like it is an accurate reflection of life: things don't always have to be neat and tidy, and sometimes, an unedited and raw version may be the way to go every once and a while. its more organic that way, if you'll allow me to use that phrase ;)

Ouch - I just got stung by a bee...

So, it's a Wednesday afternoon, I'm voluntarily doing some work for an organization my mom founded, called Women's Gift Alliance. A group of about 100 ladies from the Coeur d'Alene area work together to pull their financial funds to philanthropically support non-profit organizations in the area.

Anyways, I just got stung by a bee. Shoot. It hurts. The first time I got stung by a bee was when I was playing center field (I played center when I wasn't pitching) as a nine year old on our fast pitch softball team, the Bulldogs. The little bee crawled into my lightly fisted hand, stung me, and made me cry.

JoAnne and I were planning on doing this "30-Day Blog" topic thing, but we haven't been the best about posting; we just talk about it.
Hopefully we'll start blogging on a regular basis.
We don't even know if anyone is even reading this............

\ˈsis-tər\\ˈblȯg, ˈbläg\

\ˈsis-tər\ : one that is closely similar to or associated with another

\ˈblȯg, ˈbläg\: a Web site that contains an online personal journal with reflections, comments, and often hyperlinks provided by the writer

~~~
A virtual place where we can come to share thoughts & inspirations & stories, encourage one another, and write about what is on our hearts.
JoAnne and I have just about a month left of summer 2010 together - until we both part our ways. Colorado will be my home for three weeks at Frontier Ranch Young Life camp in Buena Vista; Colorado will be JoAnne's home for a least a year as she begins her year internship at First Presbyterian Church close to Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
Aside from the backpacking, hiking, water skiing, biking, running, and swimming we'll be enjoying together this summer, we will also take advantage of the time we have time to blog together, too.
Enjoy.
